Originally the spec for the new Mercedes showroom in Milton Keynes called for standard 400W metal high bays but the client was looking for some form of smooth dimming control, which would have ruled out metal halide lamps.

The Prismatron control system for metal halide lamps offered the perfect solution, allowing the showroom manager to control light levels and set various scenes or effects.

24 Prismatron luminaires with 400W protected Multi-Vapor lamps running off 12 Prismatron controllable ballasts were installed to achieve 350 lux. The luminaire style chosen was the glass reflector in a metal frame, supplied in a special silver colour to match the showrooms high tech interior.

The remote Prismatron ballasts have been mounted out of sight on a high level cable tray which matches the showroom's silver interior. On sunny days the luminaires can be dimmed via an MEM / Home Automation 5291 grid mounted 0-10V analogue potentiometer (dimmer) specified and installed by the electrical contractor.
