HRH Princess Alexandra Visits Holophane Europe Ltd

On February 6th 2018, Holophane Europe Ltd had the honour of hosting Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra for a Royal visit to the lighting manufacturers UK head office and manufacturing facilities.

Along with other honoured guests, including the Mayor of Milton Keynes and Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Her Royal Highness was given a guided tour of Holophane’s facilities by Managing Director EMEA, Alasdair McRury.

The Princess was given an insight into the design, development and manufacturing processes behind some of Holophane’s award winning luminaires. This included the V-MAX luminaire, with its design and innovation being recognised following the manufacturers awarding of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: Innovation in 2017.

Over Holophane’s 121-year history there has been a strong connection between the Royal Family and the lighting manufacturer. Holophane were tasked with lighting both King George VI’s coronation in May 1937 and Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in June 1953.

Alasdair McRury gave Princess Alexandra a deep insight into this connection and the company’s history, including a special moment with the Princess recognising a picture of her own father, Prince George the Duke of Kent, visiting Holophane at the manufacturers previous premises in Westminster almost 80 years ago.
