Along with other honoured guests, including the Mayor of Milton Keynes and Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Her Royal Highness was given a guided tour of Holophane’s facilities by Managing Director EMEA, Alasdair McRury.
The Princess was given an insight into the design, development and manufacturing processes behind some of Holophane’s award winning luminaires. This included the V-MAX luminaire, with its design and innovation being recognised following the manufacturers awarding of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: Innovation in 2017.
Alasdair McRury gave Princess Alexandra a deep insight into this connection and the company’s history, including a special moment with the Princess recognising a picture of her own father, Prince George the Duke of Kent, visiting Holophane at the manufacturers previous premises in Westminster almost 80 years ago.
Her Royal Highness engaged and spoke with staff from all aspects of the business, taking a noted interest in the future of the lighting industry with the ever-present technological shift into Smart Cities.
The visit from Her Royal Highness comes after another successful year for Holophane. In 2017 the lighting manufacturer received one of the UK’s most prestigious business awards, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: Innovation coupled with winning a Lux Award with its CityMax luminaire in the Exterior Luminaire of the Year category.
Alasdair McRury, Managing Director said, ‘It was a great pleasure for the team at Holophane to host Princess Alexandra together with our honoured guests. We were able to showcase our lean factory and our new products and solutions. The day was enjoyed by all.’
