Holophane Provide a Grand Entrance for Wigan Shoppers

A selection of Holophane luminaries have been used to great effect in Grand Arcade, a stunning new shopping centre in the heart of Wigan, Lancs. Spanning a site in excess of 425,000sq ft, the fully enclosed centre is part of a refurbishment of Wigan town centre and now home to a wide range of major high street names. The new centre provides parking spaces for over 800 shoppers and utilises a variety of Holophane fittings throughout the car parks, offering energy saving solutions and aesthetically pleasing designs, that blend seamlessly into their surroundings.

Holophane's Atlanta fittings were chosen for use throughout the multi-storey car park, in conjunction with a BMS control system for maximum energy savings. Not only does the correct illumination provide a safe environment for car park users, it also discourages crime and vandalism and creates more user-friendly surroundings for vehicle parking. The contemporary design of Atlanta enhances the initial impression of the facility, ensuring an overall feeling of security and safety. With an IP rating of 65, Atlanta utilises polycarbonate prismatic control to improve uniformity and spacing whilst providing a comfortable visual environment with minimum glare. The BMS system detects movement within the area and adjusts the lighting up or down accordingly.

For the rooftop car park, a range of wall lights and columns from the Denver range were installed, finished in steel grey to enhance their surroundings. These fittings utilise the very latest control gear and lamp technology in conjunction with a precisely engineered refractive lens and pre-anodised reflector assembly to achieve maximum performance combined with high efficiency.
