Holophane COVID-19 Statement Update 31.03.2020

In this exceptional time, Holophane Europe are, like companies all around the world, closely monitoring the impact of COVID 19 on our business, our people, our customers and our suppliers. Our highest priority continues to be the health and wellbeing of our staff, their families, and our stakeholders while we continue to effectively operate our business.

Following the announcement on Monday last week by the UK Prime Minister, Holophane have enabled our entire commercial, technical and finance teams to be fully operational remotely from home.  

We are fully aware and respectful of the Government’s key message that all UK citizens and businesses must play their part to protect the most vulnerable in our society and to ensure that the NHS has the capacity to deal with the inevitable huge increase in demand from the number of patients affected by the virus in the coming days and weeks
For this reason and to reflect the related current uncertainties in the market, we have taken the decision to temporarily suspend full production from our Milton Keynes factory from close of business tomorrow, 1st April 2020, until 24th April 2020. We will be constantly reviewing our decision; firstly in-line with Government recommendations and secondly to react to market conditions. This will enable us to minimise the essential team we will ask to come to work in our Milton Keynes facility.
This is a decision that has not been taken lightly or without serious consequential consideration and we are confident that you will agree this is the right action to support the global fight against COVID-19.
Please be assured that we remain committed to customer service excellence now and in the future. So, while production activities will be partially suspended in the short term, our commercial teams and the business remains fully operational for lighting and control design, product development, quotations for standard and non-configured products as well as order processing and scheduling.
Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic we are available to support and address any questions you may have. In this period of limited factory output, we will continue to communicate with our supply chain partners to ensure we will be immediately fully operational when we can re-start full production.
In the coming days, the Holophane team will work together, to care for our customers, partners, suppliers as well as ensuring we always prioritise the well-being of our own team. We find ourselves in a unique situation; entering uncharted territory and having to learn and adapt along the way.
I would like to thank all our colleagues and trading partners for their continuing dedication, commitment and support as we are dealing with the many challenges. I am immensely proud of our team.
Throughout our 125-year history, Holophane and our customers have faced and overcome many challenges, big and small. By taking these actions, we wish to contribute and help slow the spread of this virus and minimize the potential impact on all our lives.
